Who are Sam and Jack?
Sam (Colonel Samantha Carter) and Jack (General Jack O'Neill) are two characters on the show Stargate SG-1 who are both on a team of 4 people (also Daniel Jackson and Teal'c) who travel to other worlds in the universe via a wormhole system used by Stargates, and also kick a lot of bad guys' asses. Jack is Sam's commanding officer. They have a very dynamic relationship which has grown over the years. They have admitted their feelings to one another, and made a decision not to act upon it or let it interfere with their work. However, now that Jack is no longer commander of the SGC, he's no longer Sam's commanding officer, is he? That certainly opens things up. ;)

Why "Always"?
In the season 8 episode "Threads," Sam's father is close to death. Jack offers his support to Sam, and during one moment, with Jack's arm around her, Sam thanks him for being there for her. In reply, Jack says: "Always." It was a very sweet moment, and meaningful as well.
